Satellite Television Has Worked Hard to Provide Relevant Content
by xfactor on Sep.30, 2009, under Uncategorized
The power of television is impressive. Having started out life in the early 1900s as a simple broadcast medium capable of transmitting four black and white analog channels, it has evolved to become an impressive, interactive entertainment device that offers a significant volume of content to viewers. Not only that, but it has managed to stay ahead of other new media to retain its position as the most frequently used medium.
This is no mean feat, especially when compared to the pull of computers and the internet. One of its main advantages however, is that television appeals to such a wide audience: since the advent of satellite television in the late 1970s, this benefit has only been strengthened.
Just look at the statistics. According to Ofcom, nearly half of British households have access to cable or satellite television. Many of the people who use such services have also chosen to take advantage of products like the Sky + box, as it has meant that they have more control over how they watch television.
Indeed, in addition to improvements in both picture quality and sound, the amount of viewing content available has also considerably increased. Add to the mix such innovations as being able to pause and rewind live television, or the ability to record up to 40 hours of programmes without leaving the sofa, and it’s easy to see why people are turning to satellite.
On top of that, people also have the opportunity to tailor their own specific entertainment packages, based on their interests. For instance, if you’re a fan of technology shows and are keen to soak up the latest, cutting-edge information regarding science, communication or engineering, you now have the power to make sure you have these kinds of programmes on tap.
Therefore, you can bypass having to pay for such things as the sports and children’s programmes and indulge your technology passion in channels like Turbo and Discovery Science. This is also an added bonus since you only have to pay for the entertainment you’re really interested in, instead of coughing up for a whole load of unsuitable content.
As a result of these innovations, pioneered by companies like Sky, people’s viewing habits have fundamentally altered. One of the biggest changes to have occurred is the fact that broadcasters have placed a lot more power into the hands of the people, meaning they can watch their favourite programmes, like technology shows, easily and without disruption. In fact, with functions such as being able to pause live television, there are no more reasons to miss out on the action as it happens.
The industry is in a state of constant evolution and with the many Sky offers available, for example, viewers are experiencing a much greater level of interaction than ever before. So, from its humble beginnings, the television has come a long way to provide people with the very best in entertainment, in a format that is increasingly suited to busy lifestyles and hectic schedules.

Take a Walk on Television’s Wild Side
by xfactor on Sep.29, 2009, under Uncategorized
The way people watch television has changed. As with the rest of the communication industry, technological advancements and innovative new products have worked hard to revolutionise the viewing process. The result is impressive and people now have the opportunity to experience a higher quality of television, with a much greater level of interaction.
Indeed, the introduction of satellite transmissions has taken the televised world by storm and served to significantly increase the content available to viewers. In comparison to the four terrestrial channels that were previously on offer, there are now hundreds of different ones to choose from, meaning that people have the opportunity to control how, and when, they watch television.
One of the best advantages of having satellite television, for instance, is that you can now create your own combinations of entertainment packages. Therefore, instead of forking out for channels you’re not interested in, you can simply pick a package that you’ll actually enjoy, and sit back and relax without being annoyed that you’re wasting money.
Consequently, if you’re a nature lover and have a passion for documentaries dealing with the animal kingdom or the natural wonders of the world, you can simply create a package around this. In fact, many of the satellite television companies like Sky, have a great selection of specialist channels such as National Geographic, Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel, which provide viewers with an amazing way to experience the very best in nature shows.
And, from documentaries exploring the deep blue sea to expeditions into the jungle, as well as insights into some of the world’s rarest creatures, there is something to tickle everyone’s interest in nature. Not only that, but due to the introduction of on-demand television, you don’t have to worry about missing your favourite nature shows.
Take Sky +, as a prime example. Offering the opportunity to pause and rewind live television, or to record programmes by simply selecting what you want to watch on the on-screen guide, the exasperation of the phone ringing mid-programme, or not being in when it’s screened, has all but been removed. As a result, people now have the control to watch what they want, when they want.
Another great benefit of satellite television is that it is possible to mix the different entertainment packages. This means that you’re not restricted by having to decide on one genre, but can also add other channels of interest. This is an ideal solution for those living with others, as everybody can have a say about what they want to watch, thus helping to smooth out any in-house arguments!
Television has come a long way since its inception. Now a powerful, interactive entertainment system, digital television offers endless opportunities to view some of today’s most popular wildlife programs. The many Sky offers available – both for nature programs and other genres – mean entertainment customized to your needs and wants is increasingly only a button-click away.

Television given a new definition of clarity with LCD TVs
by xfactor on Sep.29, 2009, under Uncategorized
There has been a consistent advancement in technologies used for creating televisions and this has resulted in many wonderful devices coming up. The latest among them are the LCD TVs, which are rendering the act of having fun with a completely new platform of excellence.
The liquid crystal display is one of the latest advancements that has taken place in the world of televisions and the corresponding products that have cropped up and that too in impressive numbers have been LCD TVs.
The demand for an LCD television is quite a good one, hence, the resulting supply is quite an impressive one as well. This is visible when one takes a look at the brands that are currently present and their companies, which keep on making new and advanced televisions with every passing day.
The level of research that these companies are undertaking is quite impressive and all the hardwork is certainly paying of, both for the company and for the customer. The companies are witnessing surging sales of their products while the customers are getting some of the latest LCD TVs belonging to various brands quite frequently.
When one looks at the global front there are many companies that have become into major market players in the television sector. All, these companies have many other successful products in their respective portfolios apart from televisions.
However, all these companies have also created some of the most interesting flat screen televisions, plasma televisions and LCD TVs.
The following list puts forward a selected list of five brands, which have done particularly well in the product sector of televisions
1.Sony
2.Toshiba
3.Panasonic
4.LG
5.Samsung
Every single one of the companies that have been mentioned in the above list are well known names all over the world. The financial performance of every single one of these companies are capable of serving as effective financial case studies giving one an idea about financial bloom.
There are many products that can be given as examples. The reason for this is the presence of brand diversity in this sector. Normally, a customer is liable to get confused with the presence of so many brands. However, this is a situation, which is not visible when the products that are being talked about are televisions.
There is yet another feature that has led to an increase in the level of demand for LCD TVs. This reason is nothing but the pricing strategy of the companies that deal in the business of making televisions.
Most of the companies that base themselves in the act of creating televisions do so in a customer centric manner. Hence, anyone who is looking for cheap LCD TVs, which are not too demanding on their respective pockets, certainly have lots of choices to choose from.
Therefore, the current scenario is one, which has many brands having created (and that too simultaneously) a distinctive presence for themselves. Although, this has led to the act of product differentiation for the businesses harder, yet it has served as a boon for the customers as they are now being given a wide range of options.

Creating Your Network- Doubling Your Income
by xfactor on Sep.29, 2009, under Uncategorized
First of all what is a network? How does that relate to being an actor?
“A network is a large group of people who communicate, are interconnected and work together as a system.”
If you create a network you double, triple, exponentially multiply your work opportunities a gazillion times. The more people who know you, like you, want to work with you, the more work you will get. Then, the process of submissions, auditions and trying to get work is
reduced to zero. Offers come out of nowhere from people who know you, have been referred to you, have seen your work. It’s like virus marketing or the internet which is a humongous network. Career-wise you can then focus on just doing the work-a film, a play, a new
primetime series.
You become a working actor, not an actor trying to get work.
So how do you build a network? How do you get a team of people on your side to represent you? Submit you for roles? Hire you? Create projects for you? Develop your career until you are at the top?
Here is a roadmap:
1. Create a database of people you know- maybe that’s only 10 at the moment: other actors, playwrights, directors, a few casting directors, agents you met through a “pay-to meet”, a personal manager, an acting teacher. Enter their names in a database with email capacity. There are many database email programs out there. We use Constant Contact. There’s also Icontact, eweber, infusionsoft, numerous companies and software but CC is easy to learn, has 5 minute tutorials and is free for the first 2 months – while you try it out. Then, if you sign up, it’s affordable.
2. Grow your list weekly by meeting more agents, casting directors, writers, directors. Join organizations where you can network-NY Theater Meet-ups, AFI, Shooting People, Director’s Guild, AFTRA, SAG, AEA, NY Women in Film and TV, LA Women in Film & TV, New Dramatists Guild, theater groups, acting companies…anything that will allow you to meet more people in the industry. If you know 5 people you will probably NEVER get an acting job. If you know 50 you might get a call, an audition, a job once a year. If you know 500, you’ll get a job once a week!
3. Enter all the names of your contacts and check out the graphics, templates and usage of the program. It allows you to send out everything from press releases to holiday cards, download a photo into your personal messages (create your own stationary), design flyers, etc. Even if you are challenged on the computer-this is easy. It’s all done for you with a few clicks. Not too difficult.
4. Start by sending out a few – “Hi! How are you doing’? Just wanted to say hello and tell you what I’m up to…” messages. As it becomes easier, send out an announcement when you are in a show, when you book a commercial, get a callback for a film, are appearing in an under 5 on a Soap, to wish them a Happy Birthday, Happy Labor Day, Happy Thanksgiving…there are templates for every reason, season and you can design more to relate to your career progress.
5. When you have a new demo reel or a new website, send a link in an email so they can see your most recent accomplishment and work .This seems like a lot of fuss but it’s not any different than
sending messages on Twitter, Facebook, or MySpace, only you are accomplishing a whole lot more. You are building not only your network of people who like you. You are building your career. Just like in the Tipping Point (a book you should read by Malcolm Gladwell) you suddenly have reached a critical mass- a list of 100 or 250 or more. Friends and Agents will forward your info on to other interested parties- Casting Directors who were looking for your type or tuned in to see you or Googled you when they were casting something. It all comes together. And you start working.
How long does this process take? Depends on how actively you apply the concept and follow up with the system. Months, a year or two. Isn’t that better than staying in the same spot sending your resumes and post cards out and paying to meet one Industry contact at a time or having one audition at a time? Give it a shot!
Successful Marketing!

The show saw ten celebrities producing their own celebrity-based magazine, where Lyons would have to teach them to use a high-tech camera. On 9 May 2007, Lyons appeared on British television show Through the Keyhole. In 2007 Lyons also appeared on ‘Tycoon’ which was produced and developed by Peter Jones. In 2005 he appeared in the Australian version of the TV show Dragons’ Den. Get Ready for Game Time with NFL Sunday Ticket
by xfactor on Sep.29, 2009, under Uncategorized
There’s nothing quite like when summer turns to fall. The leaves changing colors, a brisk nip to the air, and pumpkins and Halloween. There’s no wonder that for many Americans, this is their favorite season. But fall means more than just hayrides and apple cider donuts: it also means football!
While football might not be the thing on the front of most folks’ minds lately, in these tough economic times, it’s important to still pay attention to the things that bring you joy. And there’s no sports fan around who isn’t excitedly counting down the days until the Super Bowl, especially after all of the twists and turns of last season. It’s one thing to watch some college ball and be excited to see your university do good, but it’s another for your favorite team, the one you tailgated and huddled in the cold for hours just to get tickets to see, bring home the big win at the big game.
But times might not be right for season tickets this year. So what’s a football fan who wants to watch the game to do? Why, order up NFL Sunday Ticket, of course. Whether you’re living a couple of miles from the stadium or across the country, with Sunday Ticket, all of the big games are at your fingertips. You don’t have to count on the local network to pick up your team’s game, and you don’t have to embarrass yourself by going to the local sports bar only to find out that they won’t switch the television to your favorite team in a million years. Better yet, you save yourself the cost of whatever drinks and food you’d buy at the sports bar, and can have a party that’s way more fun at home. All it takes is your friends, some food that they bring, and a high-definition TV, and it’s like you’re right there on the field.
And unlike with network sports coverage, there’s no need to suffer through commercial break after commercial break. Instead, keep tabs on the teams that your favorite might be facing off against next week, because all the games are right there, all Sunday long. Even if you–heaven forbid–are married to someone who likes a rival team, you can share the wealth and both see your favorites, even when they aren’t squaring off against each other. And keeping up on what your rivals are up to and how they are doing means you can better assess what might go down when it’s time for the play-offs. After all, you need to be prepared, right?
That’s the fun of NFL Sunday Ticket: every Sunday can feel like Super Bowl Sunday. And as the slight chill of fall turns into the extremely freezing air of winter, even if you live right near the stadium, you might be secretly relieved to get to watch all of the games from the warm and cozy comfort of your living room couch. Because even for super fans, there’s just so much standing around half-naked in freezing temperatures with your face painted that one guy can take.

For the Dogs: Best Canine Flicks on Satellite TV
by xfactor on Sep.29, 2009, under Uncategorized
Many viewers might be familiar with HBO as a channel that shows other people’s movies while impressing critics and viewers alike with its impressive variety of television programs, and that’s accurate. From intricate dramas on The Wire to the smash success of True Blood, HBO series have been wowing the public for awhile. And HBO definitely gets first-run movies faster than other premium cable channels, so you and your family can be enjoying whatever it is you missed at the theatre quicker than ever.
But one of the biggest things on HBO, and actually in the world of cinema as it currently exists, is HBO’s support and uncanny ability to select compelling documentaries. You see, out there in the film world, if you’re not at Sundance with your documentary, it might not ever get the chance of being picked up and shown to a wider audience. But the folks at HBO decided that, in addition to hitting it big with their TV series and their big-run movies, they would support filmmakers and go ahead and curate their own documentaries. And like everything else, they’ve really hit the ball out of the park with this.
People might think of channels like IFC and Sundance for true film auteurs, but HBO is right there with them. How about a documentary that screened at the Amsterdam Documentary Film Festival, was made by a single person with a high definition camera, and featured the unlikely love triangle between exotic cat trainers, two of whom were eventually eaten by the animal that made them rich? Art house fare, true, but also compelling for mainstream audiences. And how would a mainstream audience get the chance to see “Cat Dancers,” but through HBO documentaries, who obtained rights to the film and showed it on their channel?
With the incredible amount of films available at your fingertips if you happen to have satellite TV, sometimes you might be searching for something more substantial than Men in Black, but not know where to look. Now you do. HBO documentaries manage to touch on a number of subjects that will be poignant and interesting for all members of the family. Like a compelling documentary, originally selected by the South by Southwest Film Festival, about the country’s only prison rodeo. Or an interesting and creative look back at Ted Kennedy in his own words, as well as insight into one of America’s last great political dynasties.
The documentaries that HBO makes itself are just as great as the ones they pick up from film festivals, too. In fact, HBO Documentary Films received a number of Emmies for their incredible piece on Roman Polanski that showed in 2009, titled “Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired.” The film, which showed concurrently through satellite TV and at film festivals, follows the controversial director’s life up through the incident which had him fleeing the United States.
So for couch potatoes looking to brush up on their cultural IQs, or anyone who is hoping to see a film that will move and change them, there’s no need to search through the five million channels on your television anymore. Just head to HBO and see what documentaries they’re screening this month, and turn your living room into a place of learning and knowledge.

Want to Get Dish Network Channels On Your Home PC?
by xfactor on Sep.29, 2009, under Uncategorized
Not that long ago, PC tuners (a special hardware device you plug into your PC to get TV reception) were the only way to watch premium TV on your computer. There’s now software available, however, that gives you the same thing at much less cost and hassle. If you’re fed up with paying cable bills or just don’t want to bother with a satellite or other provider subscription, there’s a solution – and you can still get premium Dish Network channels right on your home PC.
The way this works is that there are online providers who pay royalty fees to network companies in order to host content, the same way satellite and cable providers do. You pay a one time fee to get access to the software, which is downloadable – there are no subscription fees or cable bills. Then, you download and install the software, and you’ve got instant access to TV right on your computer.
Once you’ve paid for the software itself, you can install it on any PC you want. So if you have a laptop or second PC you want to be able to watch TV on, as well, you can do that very easily. If you have a good computer, you’ll get top quality sound and picture – just as you would for an HD TV.
TV to PC software costs about half of what you would pay just for one month of cable service from any top name provider. Unfortunately, it’s still a fairly new innovation, and so it’s not very well-known or widely used yet. All you need is a computer and a DSL/broadband internet connection or better.
If you want to watch Dish Network channels on your PC, satellite to PC software is the fastest, most affordable solution. Best of all, you’ll never have to pay another cable bill again.

You Need to Buy Computer Accessories for Your Computer
by xfactor on Sep.29, 2009, under Uncategorized
You Need to Buy Computer Accessories for Your Computer
If you have a desktop computer, you need to buy compute accessories for your computer. Computer accessories are many in types and they are being used for different purposes.
There are a lot of desktop computer accessories that you need in order to hear, see, and do all of the things that computers are now design to do. In some cases, you may get most of these items with your computer, but if you don’t, you need to know what to get and where to get it. You also have to make sure you know what you are buying is going to work with the computer you have.
When you buy a new computer, make sure you ask what desktop computer accessories will come with your new toy. At the very least, you should get speakers and a printer with it, and if you want to add extras, they may charge you for it. For the most part, however, they want to make a sale, and may throw things in just to get you to buy from them, though this is not always the case. Make sure they tell you all about the desktop computer accessories that they are sending to you, and make sure you ask if they are the most up to date ones you can get.
If you find that you need to buy some desktop computer accessories on your own, you can go through the manufacturer of your computer to make sure the ones you are buying will be compatible. This may also allow you to get a better price than by going through the retail stores. You can also find desktop computer accessories by looking online, but make sure you know what you are looking at as your browse. Some manufacturers make accessories that will only go with their own product lines while other try to make universal items that will go with any computer.
Remember to be careful when you install your desktop computer accessories. Most of them come with software that you need to install in order for the item to work with your computer and its software. When you plug something new into your computer, the computer should find and install any software it needs. If it does not, you may have a problem on your hands, and you may have to call the manufacturer of the desktop computer accessories you purchased to ask them for help. If they cannot help you, you may have to call your computer maker’s technical help line.
